Sweet & Sour Tomato Orange Chutney

I was rummaging through my fridge wondering if anything is left from last week's supply , then my eyes got stuck on some lovely cherry tomatoes . I bought a lot of tomatoes but I didn't use very much and didn't want to spoil them . So decided to make chutney that we can have with paratha or with simple rice menu .  In  bengali occasions no meal is complete without chutney . So this is bengali sweet & sour tomato chutney but with some variation .  In this I mixed some oranges and instead of Dates I used dried Figs , the simple reason for using Figs was that I didn't have Dates at home and my baby doesn't like to eat dried Figs , which happens to be very healthy too . So here goes the simple recipe .

Here's the recipe :

1/2 tsp Fennel Seeds
3-4 dry Red Chillies
1/2 tsp Ginger grated
3 medium size Tomatoes ( I used cherry tomatoes 14-15)
1 medium size Orange
2 dried Figs (You can use Dates also )
Few Cashews
Few Raisins
Few Almonds
Salt a pinch
Turmeric a pinch
Sugar to taste
oil

Method :

Cut Tomatoes  , all dry fruits , peeled and separate the segments of Oranges. Mix all together.

In a pan put little oil and temper with fennel seeds , dry red chilly and grated ginger.

Now put the mixture Tomatoes , Orange and dry fruits on to the pan.

Add a pinch of salt and turmeric.

When water comes out from the tomatoes and orange put sugar and let it to cook for a few minutes

Now let it cool down and then enjoy with simple meal .
