Tofu Kofta Curry

Tofu is one of the most significant food items in East Asia and is abundant in supply . But it is difficult to cook according to Indian taste. In Korea Tofu is mostly eaten with Soy Sauce or Kimchi (kind of Korean pickle) . It looks similar to Paneer or Cottage Cheese but tastes a little bland to many Indians. Tofu is considered to be very nutritious and healthy, so it should be part of our regular diet. This point made me experiment with tofu and I came up with a simple Indian version of tofu dish . Hope this recipe makes you welcome tofu in your kitchen too.


 Here is the recipe:


For Koftas :

300 gm Tofu
1 Egg
1 small Potato
1 small Sweet Potato
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp Kasuri Methi

For Gravy :

1 medium size chopped Onion 
1 tsp Garlic paste
1 tsp Ginger paste
2 tsp yogurt
1 tsp Cumin powder
1 tsp Coriander powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1 Star Anise
2 Bay leaves
4-5 Cardamom
1 Cinnamon Stick
2 Cloves
1-2 Dry Red Chilly
1 1/2 cup of water
1 cup of Milk
1 tsp Kasuri Methi
Salt to taste
Oil

Method :

For Koftas:
Squeeze all the water from Tofu by using kitchen towel or cheese cloth .
Mix all the ingredients .


Make balls and fry them in oil.
For Gravy :
In a pan put some oil and add Star Anise, Cardamom , Cinnamon , Cloves , Bay leaves , Dry Red Chilli. Then add Onion and fry till it is little brown.
Now add Ginger -Garlic paste and fry for few seconds then add Cumin powder , Coriander powder and turmeric.
When Masala leaves oil add yogurt and fry till it leaves oil .
Now add Koftas , Water , Milk , Salt , Kasuri Methi  and let it cook for few minutes. Adjust the consistency of gravy as you desire.

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Now your dish is ready to eat.
